| Gatwick Flyers Trampoline Club held its first training session at Oakwood School, Horley in early January 1996. The aim of the Club, which is still true today, is to provide high quality coaching for all our members to prepare them for competitive trampolining ranging from county to elite national level. Within 2 years the Club had its first honour when in September 1997 the Under 9 Girls County Championships was won by one of our inaugural members. The Club quickly gained a reputation on the regional circuit as a force to be reckoned with. In 2003 we obtained our first group of competitors to qualify for the Grade 2 National Championships. Since this date the club has had representatives at every major National Trampoline Championships in Britain. In addition at national grade C (new name for grade 2) since 2003 we have had at least one member finish in the top 10 in their respective age group. In 2004 lack of suitable training times in Horley meant a move to the new Sports Centre at Dorking. Our achievements were recognised by the South East Region of British Gymnastics Trampolining when Jacqui and Mike Gevaux were jointly awarded Coach of the Year in 2006 for developing a Club that was successful at all competitive levels. Also that year Jacqui Gevaux was appointed South East Regional Trampoline Gymnastics Squad Director. For a brief period of time between 2007 and 2008 the Club changed its name to Concorde Trampoline Academy, linking together with other clubs in the area. This experiment was not as successful as was anticipated so the links were dissolved and Gatwick Flyers returned, this time as a trading name of a company limited by guarantee. In July 2008 the Club achieved our first ever National Champion in the U17 Girls grade 2 event. In November of the same year Jacqui was Team Manager of the South East region who won the first ever English Championships. Currently Mike Gevaux is one of only 4 Tutors and Assessors of Coaches (up to and including Level 2) in the South East Region. We are recognised as one of the most friendly and successful clubs within the South East. It is hoped that this success can be complemented by the opening of a new venue in Hassocks, West Sussex.
